History
The year is 1886. In the Emilia-Romanga region of Italy, Francesco Bertazzoni and his son Antonio owned a business building precision weighing machines for local farmers and cheesemakers.
Inspired by train crews heating their food up on a wood stove, Bertazzoni decided to make his own version. Because of their experience building precision machines, the Bertazzonis were able to engineer an exceptional model, and their sales took off.
When Francesco’s grandson Napoleone took over the company, he brought experience from Italy’s famous automotive shops in Turin. This is how Bertazzoni became known for their beautiful paint jobs and colors, which continues to this day.
In the 1950’s, they started making gas stoves, and by the 1970’s, they introduced electric versions as well. They’re still 100% family owned and make in Italy.
